Public Administration of the Republic of Lebanon - Gianfranco Boccalon, Spagic - Engineering Group</span><br> The Public Administration in the Republic of Lebanon has adopted Spagic to develop an infrastructure supporting the realization of eServices, which allows citizens to request for specific services delivered by the Public Administration, through the portal of the Office of the Minister of State for Administrative Reform (OMSAR). Citizens can submit various types of service requests on-line, such as requests for registration certificates. At any time users can check the status of the submitted requests: in progress; need for additional documentation; incoming communications sent by the administration; outcome. During the project development, particular attention was paid to the realization of the tools that had been provided by the operators of the various administrations, in order to dynamically create new eServices. This project is an important step forward in the Lebanese public administration’s IT infrastructure innovation path. This is not only the result of the adoption of a completely open source solution. It also allows a greater involvement of citizens in the management of administration activities, with a particular focus on delivering efficient services and transparent information. The speech provides an overview on the project state of the art and the obtained results. JORAM has achieved industrial grade quality over the last 10 years. Designed initially to implement the JMS standard, it is steadily evolving. Conformance to the new AMQP 1.0 standard is planned for the next months. In order to facilitate the development and exploitation of JORAM applications, ScalAgent DT launches JoramMQ Entreprise. JoramMQ includes the standard version of JORAM, and complements it with tools and SaaS services. It targets all steps in the lifecyle of the JORAM application. PLM systems involve the whole enterprise, they gather at a central point data, business processes and people. They expose backbone services for the company, their partners and their subcontrators thus we design our PLM with the extended enterprise concept in mind. On the technical part we made the decision to not rely on any native code on the client side all the features must be accessible through a regular web browser. If that seems quite obvious nowadays and doesn’t represent a big challenge for the "Document Management", "Product Configuration", "Change Management" or "Bill of Materials" modules that tends to be far more complex when developing the data visualization of the product structure. This session will focus on how we implemented the visualization and the manipulation of the Digital MockUp (DMU) using HTML5 technologies. We’ll explain the difficulties we encountered and also the various optimizations we made in order to render a model with thousands part. For instance, a monitoring tool has to adapt to the quick and elastic provisioning, an important feature of the Cloud. We developed from an open source platform, Icinga / Nagvis, several modules that allow: 1) For the data center infrastructure monitoring - Auto discovery of components of virtualized infrastructures and automatic set-up of their monitoring according to appropriate templates - Dialogue with the VMware API to query, among other things, the status of clusters, resource pools - Maps management in order to drill up or down in the hierarchy of the data center et the virtualized components. 2) For the application monitoring - Management of an applications dashboard that contains a representative set of key performance indicators (KPIs). - Calculation of the indicators - Management of maps showing the links between application and infrastructure. This implementation allows enhanced monitoring. We have also learned the lessons of the experimentation. The results of OpenCloudware contain a set of software components to manage the lifecycle of such applications, from modelling (Think), developing and building images (Build), to a multi-IaaS compliant PaaS platform (Run) for their deployment, orchestration, performance testing, self-management (elasticity, green IT optimisation) and provisioning. Applications can be deployed potentially on multiple IaaS (supporting either one IaaS at a time, or hybrid scenarios). The results of the project are gradually made available as open source components through the OW2 Open Source Cloudware initiative. The OpenCloudware project is coordinated by France Telecom Orange, funded by the french Fonds National pour la Société Numérique (FSN) and endorsed by competitiveness clusters Minalogic, Systematic and SCS. For example, because of the different kinds of VCSs, it is hard to figure out a uniform model which can represent the evolution progress of code files stored in them. Also, each VCS may have its own data format, so, extracting data from them is a big challenge. This talk presents VESPA, an open self-protection architecture and framework for cloud infrastructures that overcomes the previous limitations. Developed in the OpenCloudWare project, VESPA adopts a policy-based management approach, and allows a two-level regulation of security, both within a software layer and across layers. Flexible coordination between self-protection loops allows enforcing a rich spectrum of security strategies such as cross-layer detection and reaction. A multi-plane, extensible architecture also enables simple integration of commodity detection and reaction components. <b>Abstract:</b><span class="AcontentTitle"> eServices with Spagic at OMSAR - Public Administration of the Republic of Lebanon - Gianfranco Boccalon, Spagic - Engineering Group</span><br> The Public Administration in the Republic of Lebanon has adopted Spagic to develop an infrastructure supporting the realization of eServices, which allows citizens to request for specific services delivered by the Public Administration, through the portal of the Office of the Minister of State for Administrative Reform (OMSAR). Citizens can submit various types of service requests on-line, such as requests for registration certificates. At any time users can check the status of the submitted requests: in progress; need for additional documentation; incoming communications sent by the administration; outcome. During the project development, particular attention was paid to the realization of the tools that had been provided by the operators of the various administrations, in order to dynamically create new eServices. This project is an important step forward in the Lebanese public administration’s IT infrastructure innovation path. This is not only the result of the adoption of a completely open source solution. It also allows a greater involvement of citizens in the management of administration activities, with a particular focus on delivering efficient services and transparent information. The speech provides an overview on the project state of the art and the obtained results. Participation of some OMSAR representatives to be confirmed.</div><div class="Tcontent">

JoramMQ includes the standard version of JORAM, and complements it with tools and SaaS services. It targets all steps in the lifecyle of the JORAM application. DocDokuPLM (Product Lifecycle Management) is a middleware solutions aim at managing the entire lifecycle of a product from its conception to its disposal through the manufacturing stage. PLM systems involve the whole enterprise, they gather at a central point data, business processes and people. They expose backbone services for the company, their partners and their subcontrators thus we design our PLM with the extended enterprise concept in mind. On the technical part we made the decision to not rely on any native code on the client side all the features must be accessible through a regular web browser. If that seems quite obvious nowadays and doesn’t represent a big challenge for the "Document Management", "Product Configuration", "Change Management" or "Bill of Materials" modules that tends to be far more complex when developing the data visualization of the product structure. This session will focus on how we implemented the visualization and the manipulation of the Digital MockUp (DMU) using HTML5 technologies. We’ll explain the difficulties we encountered and also the various optimizations we made in order to render a model with thousands part. And obviously we’ll show a real demonstration !</div><div class="Tcontent">

Various factors introduce specific and new constrains for the monitoring of the Cloud infrastructure and services. For instance, a monitoring tool has to adapt to the quick and elastic provisioning, an important feature of the Cloud. We developed from an open source platform, Icinga / Nagvis, several modules that allow: 1) For the data center infrastructure monitoring - Auto discovery of components of virtualized infrastructures and automatic set-up of their monitoring according to appropriate templates - Dialogue with the VMware API to query, among other things, the status of clusters, resource pools - Maps management in order to drill up or down in the hierarchy of the data center et the virtualized components. 2) For the application monitoring - Management of an applications dashboard that contains a representative set of key performance indicators (KPIs). - Calculation of the indicators - Management of maps showing the links between application and infrastructure. This implementation allows enhanced monitoring. We have also learned the lessons of the experimentation. Applications can be deployed potentially on multiple IaaS (supporting either one IaaS at a time, or hybrid scenarios). The results of the project are gradually made available as open source components through the OW2 Open Source Cloudware initiative. Gérard Dupont is a research engineer in CASSIDIAN (an EADS company). He joined the System Design Center for his PhD, where he applied machine learning techniques to interactive information retrieval. He worked on several projects involving advanced media mining techniques: information extraction, multimedia processing and semantic knowledge bases. In particular he has been working on the WebLab platform since the early design. He participated to its release as an open source project on OW2 in 2008 and now work on the interactive retrieval components as well as enhancement of the core architecture (including privacy protection) through European research projects.

However today, preparing applications for cloud app stores often requires lengthy, manual processes to build software images. Often, these processes are not agile enough to easily support multiple hypervisors and clouds, or quickly implement software updates. ISVs need tools that model software images as templates, as well as automating the assembly and maintenance processes. By using a model-driven approach, ISVs can easily support multiple hypervisors as well as hybrid cloud environments.

UShareSoft’s UForge image template management platform enables ISVs and OW2 projects to package applications as customizable software templates or ready-to-run VMs available for instant publish to any cloud infrastructure or market place. This happens because the information management scenario is evolving. They will be managed by disparate processes, fragmented tools, new practices. This information will combine with various contents of enterprise systems: documents, transactional data, databases and data warehouses, images, audio, texts, videos. This huge amount of contents is named "big data", even though it is not just related to a big amount of data. It refers to the capability of managing data that are growing along three dimensions - volume, velocity and variety - respecting the simplicity of the user interface. The speech describes SpagoBI approach to the "big data" scenario and presents SpagoBI suite roadmap, which is two-fold. However, making sense out of the large amount of unstructured content is a complex task. The Web is large and information is present in many forms. Complex techniques are necessary to discover the hidden structure of content and a single software provider cannot be expert on all them. Thus the integration platform comes as a perfect solution enabling the use of the best tools for each function. In this presentation we will present OSINT challenges and its growing importance. Then we will detail the WebLab approach to build flexible and scalable OSINT applications matching the fast-paced nature of OSINT. Morgan Richomme is engineer at Orange Labs. He is the initator and the project manager of the Emerginov project in Orange since January 2010. Mr. Richomme served for 3 years as NGN Architect at Siemens Corporation before joining Orange Labs in 2005. <b>Abstract:</b><span class="AcontentTitle">Tracking code evolution for open source universe</span><br>Meng Li, Peking University.<br> The existing large amount of OSS artifacts has provided abundant materials for understanding how code is reused in open source universe, in particular, what code pieces are mostly reused, in what circumstances people reuse code, and so forth. Understanding this process could help with legacy software maintenance, as well as help to explore best practice of software development. Targeting the change history data of thousands of open source projects, we try to answer the following question: First, how is code reused by other projects? Second, how are code files organized in project and how does this organization structure change over time? To answer these questions, there are several technical difficulties we have to overcome. For example, because of the different kinds of VCSs, it is hard to figure out a uniform model which can represent the evolution progress of code files stored in them. Also, each VCS may have its own data format, so, extracting data from them is a big challenge. Furthermore, using current software algorithm and hardware platform to analyze the version iteration and reuse information of about a billion code files is another challenge.class="AcontentTitle"> </span> <br></div><div class="Tcontent">

Open source solutions, especially those resulting from R/D projects, often are neglected due to the absence of track-records in use by real world applications. ETICS is a build, test and certification software developed since 2004 and up to now used at CERN, ENG and others to build and test various complex software systems, such us glite (http://glite.cern.ch) and gcube (http://www.gcube-system.org). ETICS will be used in the Ocean support action to certify the quality of RTD open source cloud software. Ocean aims at identifying and tracking open-source cloud development projects in an open online portal to promote cross-project collaboration. Ocean will also provide projects with an on-demand build and test service reducing their need for installing and operating tools, and a beta-tester service giving them back a comprehensive review and feedback. This presentation provides an overview of the ETICS approach and tool and the way it’s planned to be adopted within the Ocean project.</span> <br></div><div class="Tcontent">

Gabriele Giammatteo graduated (in 2009) in Computer Engineering at the "Università degli studi di Roma Tre" on Secure Storage in distributed environments. He is currently employed in Engineering’s R&D Lab as software engineer with expertise in the set up and management of distributed infrastructures in particular in grid and cloud computational and/or data management systems. The infrastructure allows the logical and technical integration of different tools supporting the development and management of software projects, in compliance with the corporate organizational rules, thus granting a high level of flexibility to users, who can choose between open source tools and, if requested, proprietary ones. The cornerstone of this process is Spago4Q, which provides the working groups with the necessary information to trace and develop end-users’ requirements, to manage tests and project information, including risks, opportunities, metrics and documents. Moreover, it allows the Quality Assurance department to make its own audits on projects and related management processes. Spago4Q extracts the needed information from the different data sources, integrating them into a consistent meta-model. The speech describes the results obtained through the development of original solutions and the integration of both open source and proprietary products, such as TestLink, Jira, Liferay and Alfresco. Faced with multiple threats and heterogeneous defense systems, the autonomic approach proposes simpler, stronger, and more efficient cloud security management. Previous solutions fall at the last hurdle, overlooking one or several key desirable features such as flexible security policies, cross-layered defense, multiple control granularities, and open security architectures. This talk presents VESPA, an open self-protection architecture and framework for cloud infrastructures that overcomes the previous limitations. Developed in the OpenCloudWare project, VESPA adopts a policy-based management approach, and allows a two-level regulation of security, both within a software layer and across layers. Flexible coordination between self-protection loops allows enforcing a rich spectrum of security strategies such as cross-layer detection and reaction. A multi-plane, extensible architecture also enables simple integration of commodity detection and reaction components. Evaluation results on a VESPA KVM-based implementation show that the design is applicable for effective and yet flexible self-protection of cloud infrastructures.</span> <br></div><div class="Tcontent">

Dr. Marc Lacoste is a senior research scientist in the Security Department of Orange Labs. His main research interests are in security architecture, notably in cloud computing security, self-protecting systems, and open security kernels. He contributed to several European projects such E2R, investigating self-protection for Beyond 3G networks. He served in several major conference program committees. Member of the ACM, he also published numerous security research papers in international conferences, and holds several patents in this area. Dr. Lacoste received engineering degrees from Ecole Polytechnique and Télécom ParisTech, and holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Grenoble, France.

More precisely, CHOReOS has defined several methods, toolkits and artifacts to enable this innovative distributed way of coordinating services, while at the same time dealing with some of the inherent difficulties to enacting choreographies in an [Ultra] Large Scale context. For instance, this covers being able to ‘execute’ choreography specifications over a network of discovered, dynamic, Business and Thing-based services. This presentation will cover the aforementioned topics and specific CHOReOS developments that were undertaken in its second year, while putting them in perspective of a simple practice-oriented and business-driven use-case in Air-Traffic Management.

He is involved in the CHOReOS and and FI-WARE FP7 UE projects, WoO ITE2 project, as well as in CONNECT, SemEUsE and SocEDA French ANR projects. Defended in 2010 and jointly coordinated by LIP6 laboratory (Paris VI University) and by Thales Land & Joint Systems, his PhD thesis has as topic ’A qualitative approach for decision making under non-functional constraints during agile service composition’.
