January 2020 Newsletter
Dear OW2 Members, dear All,
All of us at OW2 would like to begin by wishing you all a very happy, peaceful and prosperous 2020.
OW2 made significant progress in 2019, our membership revenue increased by 25%, we recruited seven new members, including key open source players like the Gendarmerie Nationale and Microsoft, we signed seven associate organisations such as the Eclipse Foundation, the Document Foundation and the OpenStack Foundation, we launched three collaborative projects, DECODER, FASTEN and ReachOut, we made significant progress in the Open Source Governance and the OSS in Big Cities initiatives, we launched our Market Readiness Levels project assessment methodology, we enhanced OW2’s visibility in the European open source ecosystem, and OW2con’19 was our best annual conference ever.
Our fundamentals are good and we have a relevant value proposal to develop. Thanks to the continuous efforts and dedication of the OW2 Management Office, to whom I here express my gratitude, and the support of our members, we look forward to 2020 with confidence. As we carry on last year's efforts, our main objective in 2020 will be to enhance the attractiveness of our code base.
The OW2con'20 Call For Presentations is open until February 28, 2020. Please note the deadline and don’t leave your submission to the last minute! Save the date for OW2con'20, June 17-18, and check out our attractive sponsorship opportunities! Sponsorship helps to make an even better conference.
A couple of housekeeping notes: the next meeting of the Board of Directors will be held March 19 and our General Assembly on March 18, the OW2 board and chairperson elections will be held from February 7 to March 19.
Wishing you once again much happiness and success for 2020!
