OW2 Newsletter - November 2009 - From the OW2 Management Office Dear OW2 Members, Dear All,
OW2 can do better... Or, to put it another way, you have
great expectations for OW2 and, as usual, depending on how we choose
to look at it, the glass is half full or half empty... This is
the key lesson from the questionnaire sent to the community on
October 26.
More specifically, what you told us is,
first of all, that we should communicate more often and more
transparently because you want more information about what we do. Then, that you want more interaction and that we should create
more and better opportunities for members to participate and engage. Last but not least, you are confused about the way we manage our
projects, so we are making this a priority for the Technology Council.
There was also a big question about our
technology options. We need to debate on this and you are all invited
to contribute. So, because you expect more transparency -- why not
start now? -- here are the results and as you want
more interaction we are inviting those of you who missed the first round to fill out the
questionnaire here. This week, our friends at the Apache Software
Foundation celebrate their 10th anniversary. This is
quite a milestone for the open source community as a whole. At OW2, we
consider Apache as our benchmark in terms of how to develop a
community of open source developers which is why, at the beginning of the week,
we posted our best wishes on our home page. Cheers Apache, and happy birthday!
We are less than two weeks away from
fOSSa, the conference where open source meets academia; register here.
Thank you for your on-going support,
Cedric Thomas
