We are working with OW2's board of directors on our contribution to the European Commission's Public Consultation on Cloud Computing and Software. In the world of today's complex interconnected applications, IT innovations are provided by ecosystems of companies and research organizations working together in collaborative projects. While these innovative ecosystems create breakthrough technologies, they are not aimed at delivering market-ready products. OW2 proposes to drive these projects to deliver well-managed open source technology commons and solve what we call the Delivery Challenge. OW2 is uniquely positioned to support the European Commission in implementing this strategy.
Regarding the European Commission, I am pleased to report that two of the projects we submitted to last April's H2020 call have been accepted. AppHub will enable us to launch our marketplace for OW2 projects and cloud-oriented open source technology commons while CHOReVOLUTION will help us grow the FISSi – Future Internet – initiative. You will hear more about these projects over the coming months.
I look forward to seeing you at OW2con'14.
Cedric Thomas
