\[OW2 Newsletter - September 2009 - From the OW2 Management Office]
Dear OW2 Members, Dear All, For this newsletter, here is a global perspective on OW2:
Brazil. In August, OW2 was busy in Brazil and scored great
success thanks to Strategic Members Bull, INRIA
and SERPRO and Corporate Members EBM Websourcing, Konsultex and
UNIFOR. See the report and pictures here . As President Lula declared
his intention to position Brazil at the forefront of open source in
the world, we realized that developing our membership in this country
was a strategic objective for OW2. Note the Demoiselle Framework
China. In September, with the help of
the OW2 China Local Chapter, we will hold a series of meetings and
presentations to promote and grow the OW2 community in China. The
Award Ceremony of our Programming Contest will take place in Guyang,
China, Sept. 19-20. If you want to sponsor the event, this is a
unique opportunity for exposure in China and for connecting with top
students from world-class universities.
Europe. At least three important events
for OW2 in Europe in the coming months: first, the Open World Forum,
in Paris, Oct. 1-2, where OW2 will be center stage in the FLOSS
Community Summit, the Open Innovation Summit and, of course, the OW2 Experience Day. And in November, the OW2 Europe Local Chapter organizes fOSSa the first European conference specifically dedicated to open
source for the academic world.
North America. Things are moving in
North America for OW2. Our presence at OSCON for the second year
running was quite a success and we started discussions to further
cooperate with our friends at the Open Solutions Alliance, an association of open
source companies with a strong foofhold in North America.
That's all for now; thank you for your support! Cedric Thomas
