Dear OW2 Members, dear All,
As you will have gathered from our latest newsletters, OW2 has been through a quarter of uncertainties, to the point that closing down operations was an option we had to seriously consider. Fortunately, even if not everything is yet confirmed, we can now feel optimistic for 2014. However, we must keep in mind that the issues that led us to this situation remain. Although our strategy and positioning are to a large extent on the right track, our business model is not sufficiently robust. The 90-day plan is an excellent opportunity to re-think OW2. While maintaining the orientations described in last month's newsletter, we are now addressing them within a better structured framework of four strategies: service, partnership, organization and revenue. I will comment on these strategies in more detail in our upcoming newsletters.
In the meantime, we are resuming business as usual! We have sent all OW2 members the notice for the General Assembly and the members of the Board election. Please note that candidates have until Sunday April 13 to apply; an overview of the process is here. I must also remind all project leaders they have until April 30 to submit their topics for the programming contest. And last but not least, we are launching a new service this month: the OW2 Webinars. All OW2 projects are welcome to take advantage of this new promotion resource!
To finish, I would like to express my appreciation to all those who have expressed their support, thus confirming that OW2 does indeed have a role to play on the global software scene.
As usual, thank you for your on-going support,
Cedric Thomas
