Dear OW2 Members, dear All,
This month we have our general assembly and the board of directors is set to elect OW2's new chairperson so this is the ideal opportunity for a quick update on our long-term strategy.
At CloudScape and NetFutures in March, we unveiled our market place developed within the framework of EU-funded project AppHub. At the same time, with the help of the Technology Council, we are re-evaluating all projects in our code base and, thanks to RISCOSS, another EU-funded project, we are making good progress with our quality program, All these efforts should converge towards a fully implemented quality program and fully operational market place by the end of the year. This will be the culmination of the long-term strategy presented several years ago at OW2con 2011 and the beginning of a new cycle for OW2.
I am also delighted to introduce Marcel Donges, OW2's new CTO who will oversee the completion of this strategy. Working from Munich, Marcel brings substantial expertise and experience in open source infrastructure software. Please give a warm welcome to Marcel!
I am also pleased to announce that long-term promoter of FLOSS-adoption, CETIC, an IT research center based in Wallonia, Belgium, has joined OW2 as a corporate member. We are looking forward to working with them.
Thank you for your contributions and on-going support,
Cedric Thomas
