OSCON, July 20-24, Portland, USA
OW2 has sent a request this year again for a booth in the non profit pavillion. We are awaiting the final confirmation. One confirmed, all members are invited to come and help promote the community there.
Dear OW2 Members, dear All,
January was a busy month for our collaborative projects. There were three new project launches, AppHub, CHOReVOLUTION and OCCIware, and three annual reviews, OCEAN, OpenCloudware and RISCOSS. With these and XLcloud, all in all, we are now directly participating in six collaborative projects.
Over the next few months we will leverage two of these projects, RISCOSS and AppHub, as we focus our efforts on our fundamentals, the promotion of the OW2 code base. The former will help us enhance our SQuAT quality program to make our projects more attractive while the latter will help us implement the OW2 appstore, the next stage of our long-term strategy. We are fully aware that a collateral requirement of this plan is to improve the governance of our projects – watch this space.
Here is what we are building: an open source organisation with well-governed quality projects that are easy to download and deploy. To further increase our ability to execute we are in the process of recruiting a new CTO and, needless to say, the OW2 Management Office will be working even more closely with our Technology Council and our Project Leaders.
Please note we will shortly start the process for the OW2 board and chairperson elections to be held between February 19 and April 9.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
Cedric Thomas
