[OW2 Newsletter - February 2025 - From the OW2 Management Office] Dear OW2 Members, dear All, After a fruitful FOSDEM in Brussels along with some of our members and associate organizations, surrounded with tremendous side events including the European Open Source Awards and OFE's Open Source Policy Summit, we are now in the rush for our French regional event, AlpOSS, co-organized with Linphone and the City of Echirolles: join us on February 20 at the Echirolles City Hall, it is free and friendly, registration here. Then if you envisage to speak at OW2con'25, June 17/18 in Paris, the CfP closes soon: Feb.23! So please, do not forget to submit your talk. It is also possible to sponsor OW2con: as of now, we have three sponsors committed, so there is still some room - and the earlier the better to ensure your organization a maximum visibility. Among others news, we are happy to inform our community that our President, Christian Paterson, recently authored a new book about FOSS: "Open Source, a capitalistic value engine", covered by a Creative Commons free license (CC-BY). Paperback versions can be purchased online - with also an e-book version. And that OW2 has officially - and proudly - endorsed OSI's Open Source AI definition! Last but not least, for all our members, corporate or individuals: the OW2 election period for the Board of Directors is starting now, so feel free to candidate for a seat! Instructions were just sent by email on members mailing lists, or you may read them on our board election page. Thanking you for your ongoing support to open source, The OW2 Management Office PS: Project leaders: Please use your project dashboard to publish your updates. Your news will appear on our Project Marketplace home page and in this newsletter.
