[OW2 Newsletter - November 2024 - From the OW2 Management Office]

Dear OW2 Members, dear All,

This month, I will be brief: our main focus is incoming events.

First, OW2 is represented at SFSCon (Bolzano, Italy, Nov. 8/9), with a booth held by NGI Search beneficiaries we have been mentoring during the programme: SpareCores - giving a talk about Cloud compute resources optimization, and On My Disk - talking about decentralized search on a self-hosted cloud.

Then comes Open Source Experience (OSXP) - Paris, Dec. 4/5, a milestone in OW2's roadmap: as every year, we are happy to welcome the community on our village booth #C20, shared with the City of Paris (their Lutece/CiteLibre project, but also their commitment in OSPOs and governance), Murena pro-privacy /E/OS smartphones, and NGI projects - including success stories from NGI Search (Datafari and SpareCores), plus the ongoing NGI0 Commons Fund that can help you fuel your FOSS projects.

OW2 also participates in two talks there: one is a round table we animate (Dec. 4 / 12:20 PM), shared with Mastodon, Open Food Facts, the e.Foundation (home of /E/OS) and XWiki/CryptPad, about how the EC backs digital commons with public funding to pave a European alternate way to GAFAMs. The other (Dec. 5 / 11:30 AM) is about FOSS funding schemes, in cooperation with Datami / Multi.coop.

Later on, our next event is a local one in south-east France (Echirolles, near Grenoble, in the Alps): 2nd edition of AlpOSS, February 20, 2025, co-organized with the City of Echirolles - hosting AlpOSS at the City Hall - and our member Linphone. The CfP is open until Nov. 17, and it is still possible to support us as a sponsor!

And, last but not least, OW2Con'25 takes place in June 25 (17/18): and the CfP opens right now, you can start submitting your proposals in English!

So, as you understood, our main message is "come and meet us" - at free events, so anyone can join, not just the usual suspects :)

Looking forward to meeting you soon,

The OW2 Management Office
