[OW2 Newsletter - October 2024 - From the OW2 Management Office] Dear OW2 Members, dear All, Should all editorials start with good news? A new member joins OW2: UGA (Université Grenoble Alpes), a French academic we have long term friendly relationships with - and this confirms and reinforces our commitment in open science and knowledge. OW2 and UGA team together in an open education French project focused on cloud skills, we are the voice of open source there! Also, while talking about open models at large, do not forget the ongoing NGI0 Commons Fund open call: go and apply, to fuel reusable open source bricks, or even full-scale digital commons based on public goods. NGI has an unprecedented track record, and we are happy to announce we just started funding Mastodon to extend Fediverse discovery capabilities, plus a very useful data visualization framework called Datami. So maybe you are just a form away from getting funded? And among our ongoing efforts for FOSS at large, the OSPO Alliance we co-founded with Eclipse and OFE welcomes a new chairman: Frédéric Aatz, a long term supporter of open source governance and OSPOs. Now, if you need more information about NGI, OW2, OSPOs, or just want to chat with us and the community, some occasions to meet soon at events: OSXP - Open Source Experience in Paris (Dec. 4/5), on our village booth. OW2 also has a stand at SFSCon in Bolzano, Italy (Nov. 8/9), represented by our associate organization RIOS, with NGI funded projects testimonials (and success stories): SpareCores, an impressive cloud statistics and benchmarking tool, and OnMyDisk, a distributed file sharing and search technology. Last but not least, the French regional "AlpOSS" event we organize along with Linphone and the city of Echirolles comes back in 2025 (Feb. 20) after its successful onset last year: the CfP opens soon, stay tuned! Looking forward to meeting you soon, The OW2 Management Office PS: Project leaders: Please use your project dashboard to publish your updates. Your news will appear on our Project Marketplace home page and in this newsletter.
