September 2018 Newsletter
Dear OW2 Members, dear All,
It's #SaveYourInternet Action Week! On September 5, we encourage all members and contributors to write to their European Members of Parliament and tell them how Article 13 will affect open source software. Follow easy instructions here or go directly to the #SaveYourInternet #DeleteArt13 website. You'll find everything you need here, the letter is already written. Try it! Do it now. It's quick and easy. But, most of all, it's important!

We are concerned about the liability constraints the Directive will impose on our technical infrastructure and the way we develop open source software collaboratively. We respect the fight against copyright infringement and for the proper remuneration of authors, but creating barriers and liability threats to collaborative platforms is a whole other matter. As an online platform, OW2 would have to implement complex and expensive filtering systems to thoroughly monitor all uploads and delete anything that could generate a copyright infringement risk. Furthermore, by hampering the agility of collaborative open source development, the Directive threatens the future of our open source software communities.
On a more positive note I'd like to tell you again about the two new Corporate Members who joined OW2 this summer. Capgemini, the global powerhouse in consulting, technology services and digital transformation and 7bulls.com, an open source systems integrator and software vendor from Poland.
Thanking you for your on-going support!
